The monthly updates for Gran Turismo 7 continue, bringing with them another set of three new cars. One of these is a Porsche 964, and another is an offshoot of the most powerful production car ever made. However, the standout here is the original Renault Twingo, which is certainly a cause for celebration.
I may not be the most deeply involved auto enthusiast or blogger, but I still recognize that the Twingo has a unique appeal to a wide audience—even those who aren't particularly car fans. This attraction likely stems from its friendly design, arguably making it the most "friend-shaped" vehicle ever.
The first generation Twingo launched in 1993 and remained in production until 2012 in Colombia. In Japan, it was among the initial Renault models offered at Nissan dealerships following Renault’s acquisition of a stake in Nissan in 1999, leading to a rather complicated corporate relationship.
The version of the Twingo featured in The Real Driving Simulator is from those early production years, characterized by its interior upholstery that can only be described as “silly,” or perhaps even “zany.” The Twingo isn't alien to motorsports either; it has been part of one-make racing series, and one team even attempted to enter it in the Nürburgring 24 Hours, although recent disappointing actions from the organizers hindered that plan.
In addition to the Twingo, the update includes the 964 911 Turbo S Leichtbau. While there are other 964 models in the game, this is undoubtedly the rarest, next to the 911 Carrera RS. There’s also the quad-motor Yangwang U9 electric hypercar, which boasts 1,286 horsepower, while the U9 Track Edition ramps it up to a staggering 2,977 hp, yet surprisingly, Polyphony has opted not to feature that model in GT7.
The April 1.69 patch will also introduce a new Muscle Car Extra Menu and Power Pack Challenges—missions for rewards that those who purchased the Power Pack DLC late last year can attempt. Anticipate the update to be released overnight tonight.
