Alonso: I hope this is not my last season in Formula 1.
Fernando Alonso could not miss the Historic Monaco Grand Prix, but the two-time world champion is participating not as a driver, but as an honorary guest.
"This is part of the history of our sport, and I think some of these cars inspired us when we were kids," he shared in an interview with the Monaco Automobile Club press service. "These cars were really built for racing, and it's great that at this historic Grand Prix we see them back on the track in action. Moreover, Monaco and Formula 1 are inseparably linked, and we still see that this magic remains, and traditions continue."
When asked if he plans to end his career in Formula 1, as that would give him time to participate in historic races, Fernando just laughed:
"I don't know! I love what I do. I raced for the first time when I was three years old, and now I'm 44 – that means I've spent 41 years behind the wheel of racing cars. When the time comes to end my career, I will have to make a very difficult decision, and it will be very hard to do.
I think time will tell. I need to feel it myself, but for now, it seems to me that the moment has not yet come. I am in good shape, and when I drive the car, I feel the necessary motivation, so I hope that the 2026 championship is not my last season in Formula 1."
