Every dog owner eventually comes to a startling realization: dog hair is tough to remove from car carpets. You can vacuum your car repeatedly, and yet somehow, fur still lingers. This is due to the curly or sprig-like nature of much dog hair, which can get woven into your vehicle's carpet fibers, making it challenging for even a powerful vacuum to remove it. Mechanical separation is what you need, and that's precisely what the Grubbie Edge Pet Hair Removal Tool provides.
Previously, I relied on an old wooden ruler or simply my fingers to scrape dog fur off my car's carpets while vacuuming. This method was somewhat effective, but it was labor-intensive and often left behind stray hairs.
This little tool from Chemical Guys is far superior.

It features broad strips of small claws made from a firm yet flexible material that won’t harm the carpet, along with an ergonomic handle for easy gripping. With gripping edges on several sides, it allows you to maneuver easily into corners and crevices, unlike using your whole hand.
Essentially, you gather the dog hair with the Grubbie Edge into a line, similar to sweeping dirt off a floor. Once the hair is detached, you can either pick it up and toss it away like tumbleweeds (some bird will surely appreciate it for nesting) or vacuum it up easily.
The only real drawback of the Grubbie Edge is that it's a bit too bulky to fit into the narrow gap between the front seats and door sill, where a lot of hair tends to accumulate. Perhaps a future version will include a longer, thinner edge. However, you can still manage that area carefully with a vacuum nozzle.
I cleaned out my E46 coupe last night, which frequently accumulates a considerable amount of dog hair, and I was very pleased with the results. The tool picked up more fluff than I could even detect. The car’s interior is grey, and Bramble the dog, my companion, is a merle (grey, black, white, with a bit of brown), so much of her fur camouflages with the interior. I adore her, but "a lot" is an understatement when it comes to how much hair she sheds at any moment.
In reviewing the photos, the before-and-after images don’t quite capture the true transformation. However, it effectively works—I wouldn’t have taken the time to write about it if it wasn’t effective.
Bramble is part Australian shepherd and part golden retriever, and she appears to shed for about nine months each year. To say she provided plenty of material for the Grubbie Edge to handle is an understatement, and I was genuinely impressed by its performance. I also appreciated its ergonomic design. It’s easy to hold and soft enough to prevent any accidental damage to the car's interior.
You can purchase one of these from Chemical Guys for $14.99, and here's a tip: Chemical Guys frequently offers deals and discounts, so explore the site while you’re there, and you might find additional items in a bundle. Additionally, until June 4, purchases made through the Chemical Guys website or TikTok Shop are eligible for a chance to win either $100,000 in cash or a Corvette, which is quite exciting.
Few things in life bring more joy than taking a drive with Bramble the dog. Now I can approach the task of cleaning my car after she’s been in it with a bit less annoyance!
