The FIA confirmed the restrictions in case of rain.

      We wrote that the forecast promises a high likelihood of rain and thunderstorms on Sunday, and in this regard, the FIA reminded about the new restrictions that will be in effect on a wet track, starting from the weekend in Miami.

      If grip on the track deteriorates due to rain, the FIA will disable the Boost function in the overtaking zone to avoid spins and exits due to the high torque of the hybrid power unit.

      With the Boost mode disabled, energy distribution will be controlled using special engine mapping, rather than driver-controlled systems, which will ensure a smoother power curve.

      In case of rain, the use of active aerodynamics will also be restricted – the second Straight Mode zone will be disabled in Miami on the section between turns 8 and 11. Under low grip conditions, only partial activation of elements that reduce aerodynamic drag on the straight will be allowed to maintain the stability of the rear of the car.

      In the USA, stricter bans are in place in the event of a threat and actual occurrence of lightning, which may lead to the suspension of activities on the track in worsening weather conditions.
