Alonso admitted that he will stay in Formula 1 in 2027.

Fernando Alonso's contract with Aston Martin expires at the end of the season. The Spaniard has repeatedly said that this agreement could be his last in Formula 1, but in Miami, Fernando stated that he has not yet made a decision and allowed for the possibility that he might continue his career in 2027.

Fernando Alonso: "I haven't started thinking about the future yet. Last weekend in Monaco, we met with Lawrence [Stroll, the team owner] and had a great dinner, but we didn't talk in detail about the future. We are a united team that talks more about the present than the future.

I know that at some point this year, probably in the summer or right after, I will need to make a decision. Leaving the sport with a bad aftertaste is not always the best decision, but such things cannot be chosen.

I am very calm and very happy with my career, very pleased with what I have been able to experience, what I have gone through, and what this sport has given me. It is a kind of gift that I received in 2021 when I returned. The gift is to race and feel competitive.

I also want to leave the sport one day feeling fast. I don't want to leave the sport when everyone is beating me, when I feel slow, make mistakes, and all that. If I continue to compete, I think the second season with a new project will be better than the first.

If I decide to leave Formula 1, I know I will race in other series. As I have said many times, the Dakar is quite possible. It would be great if one day I could win in endurance racing, Formula 1, and rallycross. That would be an unprecedented event, which really attracts me."
