Stroll claims that F3 cars are now '1,000 times more enjoyable' than F1 vehicles.

Lance Stroll has launched a strong critique of Formula 1's 2026 regulations, stating that they are "completely wrong." The Aston Martin driver spoke out during the Miami event, where minor rule changes are expected to be implemented, and even dismissed attempts to curtail questions on the matter. "No, it's fine. You can ask questions about this," he responded when a team official tried to intervene.

Stroll continued with his candid viewpoint, expressing hopes for improvements in how the vehicles handle, particularly concerning issues that hinder racing and qualifying sessions. "I think we're still away from true Formula 1 cars, in which you can push fully without worrying about batteries," he remarked, deeming the Miami adjustments inadequate. "We're miles away from where we need to be," he stated. "The regulations are essentially completely wrong. I'm not an engineer, but there are many adjustments we could make."

His dissatisfaction also encompassed the overall driving experience. "No, Formula 1 isn't that enjoyable to drive anymore," he noted. "I drove other cars during the break. I tested some Formula 3 cars, and they were a thousand times more enjoyable because it relies on your right foot. You control how much power you want and it responds accordingly."

Stroll also lamented the loss of the sport's character compared to previous eras. "I also saw onboard footage from the V8 and V10 eras," he said. "It used to be much more intense and thrilling than it currently is. It's disappointing, but I hope we can move back in that direction." He suggested that many drivers may share his views but feel unable to express them freely. "Some drivers can voice this, while others can't due to their contracts," Stroll explained. "That's Formula 1 – it can get quite political."

In contrast, Valtteri Bottas took a more tempered stance, stating, "It's still a small step, but a step in the right direction." The Cadillac driver acknowledged that while a larger change could be beneficial, it’s important not to penalize teams that have performed well up to this point.

Meanwhile, Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali dismissed any notion of a crisis. "Formula 1 has absolutely no problems, Formula 1 is in excellent shape – just to clarify that for everyone," he asserted.
