Kyle Loftis, the founder of the popular street racing and car culture platform 1320video, passed away on Tuesday night, as confirmed by representatives of the organization. Since its inception in 2003, 1320video has attracted an audience (including nearly 4 million subscribers on YouTube) by showcasing videos of street races and other activities that challenged legal limits. The "About Us" section explains their mission straightforwardly:
“1320Video is a group of automotive aficionados united by a shared passion – to explore the realm of street cars and present to you the finest experiences we encounter. Based in the Midwest, the 1320Video team travels worldwide in search of unique and exciting cars, cultures, and drivers.”
“1320Video provides top-notch street car coverage from the United States, featuring drag racing, street racing, dyno shootouts, car shows, roll racing events, and much more! Our content can be found across our website, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, boasting over 10,000,000 fans globally!”
Describing its approach as controversial would be an understatement. However, if you are in any way connected to car culture, it’s likely that you have come across a clip from 1320video. We have shared several of them right here at The Drive. Loftis even created a video detailing the foundation of the company and its growth into the powerhouse it is today.
The representatives for 1320video did not provide further information regarding Loftis’s passing. He was reportedly recovering from a serious crash that occurred while filming a video for the channel in December. Loftis acted as a mentor to other contemporary influencers, including Garrett Mitchell (more commonly known as Cleetus McFarland), who had recently gifted Loftis a new Chevy Corvette ZR1 a few weeks prior.
