Kulthard: Max will be more comfortable in Ferrari than in Mercedes.
David Coulthard believes that Max Verstappen, if he is going to change teams, should consider Ferrari rather than Mercedes. The former driver expressed his opinion while participating in another episode of the Up to Speed podcast, and he justified it as follows:
"I think, in fact, Max as a driver with a winner's reputation would fit better into the world of Ferrari than into the world of Mercedes.
I know he has a good relationship with Mercedes, and I know he races a Mercedes car in GT3. But he needs the freedom to be himself, and I believe he would be more comfortable at Ferrari because there he can just show up at races, demonstrate good speed, presumably win, and then go home."
In addition to David's words, there is another significant argument: Verstappen may also be attracted by the fact that Ferrari's factory teams compete in several racing categories, including GT and WEC, where they have recently achieved remarkable success. It is enough to recall that in the last three years at the "24 Hours of Le Mans," drivers racing Ferrari 499P hypercars have won. And all of this could become an additional and very strong argument for the four-time world champion.
However, for now, all of this is just theoretical speculation, and in practice, Max Verstappen remains a driver for Red Bull Racing. As for Ferrari, Charles Leclerc's contract runs until the end of 2027, and Lewis Hamilton is rumored to also have the option to stay with the Maranello team for another season.
