Orihara: We still have a lot to do.
Shintaro Orihara, the chief engineer and head of the Honda Racing team, is generally satisfied with the results of the work that his subordinates, together with specialists from Aston Martin F1, carried out before the Miami stage, and now the Japanese engine builders are preparing for the Canadian Grand Prix. In any case, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll are not complaining about vibrations, and both cars finished in both races of the weekend.
"We received confirmation that the measures we took worked well, and the team's drivers rated them positively," Orihara is quoted by the official championship website. "We completed the entire distance of the Grand Prix, as well as the distance of the sprint, without significant reliability issues. This is progress.
At the next stage, we will be able to focus on optimizing the hybrid system settings, as well as improving handling parameters, since we still have a lot to do to enhance our power unit."
Orihara added that close collaboration with the Aston Martin F1 team has been a crucial factor in addressing the vibration issue, as it is related not only to the engine but also to the chassis. One of the important factors that greatly contributed to the effective search for solutions was that after the Japanese Grand Prix, one of the AMR26 cars was left at the Honda Racing base in Sakura.
