Tauris: Valtteri and Sergio don't let anyone relax.
Dan Tauris, the CEO of Cadillac F1, believes that the new American team will gradually gain recognition and support if it continues to progress, but will face fair criticism if there are no significant improvements. In all the stages of its debut season so far, both drivers of the team have been eliminated from the fight for starting positions in the first part of qualifying, with the best result in the race being 13th place for Valtteri Bottas at the Chinese Grand Prix. On the Cadillac track, they can currently only compete with Aston Martin, but Tauris believes that if the team moves forward, fans will appreciate it. "In Formula 1, expectations are always high. I am not going to justify such results in qualifying and call 18th and 19th times a 'moral victory,'" Tauris is quoted by the American publication The Race. "I think for now we just want to keep working hard and show some progress. In my opinion, the most important thing right now is to simply show that there is no stagnation, that changes are happening from race to race, and to build this upward trajectory of development so that people eventually start to notice it." Cadillac wants to attract attention with a creative approach to marketing, using unusual ways to promote its brand in Formula 1, but Tauris understands that this will only work if the team also acts professionally and confidently on the track: "The task is not to overdo it in this area, not to try to just seem original. I believe that to earn the right to apply some special approaches, we need to handle everyday basic tasks well, show that we know how Formula 1 works, know what is expected of us, and that the results of this work are of high quality. I think then we can do something our way and apply original approaches, which will contribute to the development of our sport, rather than just putting on a show for the sake of attracting attention. The goal is to have more and more fans and for the popularity of Formula 1 in the USA to continue to grow." Tauris also highly praised the professionalism of the team's drivers, Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez, who are trying to help Cadillac progress: "I believe that this is where their experience shows. Valtteri and Sergio have a balanced approach, demonstrating the ability to push everyone, but not too harshly, as it is important for the team right now to be given the opportunity to grow and learn. But at the same time, they do not let anyone relax, pointing out the areas where improvement is needed, noting what works and what doesn't, while we strive for gradual improvements, trying to turn Cadillac F1 into a team of the future."
