Brandl: Russell needs to stop Antonelli

Bookmakers are calling Kimi Antonelli the favorite in the title race this season after the young Italian won three consecutive races and increased his lead over teammate George Russell to 20 points in the individual standings. However, former Formula 1 driver Martin Brundle believes Russell still has a strong chance at the title. He cited last year's example of Lando Norris, who was also trailing his teammate Oscar Piastri but gained momentum at the end of the season and clinched the title in the final round in Abu Dhabi.

"There is still a long way to go," Martin Brundle shared his thoughts on Sky Sports News. "There are 482 points still to be contested, so I don't think the current gap will be a problem for George Russell. For example, last year in Canada, Lando Norris had a ridiculous crash with his teammate Oscar Piastri, and it seemed he had undermined his title chances, but in the end, Lando became the champion.

We are only at the fifth round of the season, and it will not be easy. For the first time, a sprint will take place at the Canadian track. Cool weather is expected, and it may even rain on Sunday, so the drivers are in for a real test. George needs to stop Antonelli and gain some points back. I think it's more about psychology now than mathematics."
