Horner reemerges as BYD connections gain traction.

Christian Horner is gradually re-emerging in the motorsport scene as rumors grow regarding a possible return to Formula 1, with the Chinese company BYD now heavily associated with his future endeavors. Since leaving Red Bull, the former team principal has mostly stayed out of the limelight, but it is now believed that his gardening leave has come to an end.

Horner made a public appearance at the Monaco E-Prix over the weekend, where he shared that he has been enjoying his time away from Formula 1. "I’ve been down to the MotoGP, checking out the bikes," he told Talksport. "For the first time in 30 years, I've had a bit of time off, mainly with my family, which has been great. I came as a guest with the Liberty guys, and it's wonderful to see how this championship is progressing."

Nevertheless, Horner's recent outings are fueling increasing speculation about a project involving BYD. Shortly after the Monaco event, he was seen at an occasion linked to BYD in Cannes, connected to the company’s ’Build Your Dreams’ film awards initiative. Reports indicate that Horner has met at least twice with BYD vice president Stella Li amid rising paddock chatter.

Speculation includes the possibility of a Horner-supported twelfth Formula 1 team or a potential partnership with BYD concerning the 24 percent stake in Alpine currently owned by Otro Capital. The connections have become stronger since Horner appeared in BYD's own social media clips promoting the Cannes event. In recent weeks, the Chinese manufacturer has also been linked to broader ambitions in Formula 1, including reported interest in either Alpine itself or Renault’s former Formula 1 engine facility at Viry-Chatillon.
