Esteban Ocon denies that he has a conflict with Komatsu.
During the break between the races in Miami and Montreal, Ralf Schumacher participated in the Backstage Boxengasse podcast, where he stated that Esteban Ocon is not showing good enough results, so the team may replace him with another driver during the current season. On Thursday in Montreal, Ocon was asked to comment on Ralf's words.
"To be honest, it's complete nonsense," reacted the French Haas driver. "It's just incredible to hear something like that. We just talked to Ayo. In one article, he was even called Rio Komatsu, which is just funny. And they also wrote that there was some serious conflict between us in Miami, but that's complete rubbish. It's all made up.
As I said, I joined this team largely because I have known Ayo for a long time. We have a great relationship, and it has always been that way. Nothing that is being said right now is actually happening. It's simply not true. I am fully focused on my work and on what I need to do with the team. I am completely involved in the project and staying with the team for the entire season.
I have a valid contract, and it just amazes me how much this has been blown out of proportion. To be honest, I try not to pay attention, but when it becomes so widespread, it starts to resemble bullying.
I feel good and calm within the team. In the last races, we did a great job. Yes, at the beginning of the season, we were a bit unlucky due to safety cars and things like that. But we have speed and a foundation on which the team's work is built. So there are no problems within the team."
