Hamilton: Many are trying to oust me.
At today's press conference in Montreal, Lewis Hamilton was asked to comment on rumors regarding his possible retirement. The seven-time world champion simply smiled and stated that he is fully confident that his collaboration with Ferrari will continue next year.
Lewis Hamilton: "Many are trying to send me into retirement, although I don't even think about it. I'm already thinking about what lies ahead and planning for the next five years.
For me, everything is completely clear, as I am still under contract with Ferrari. I remain focused on my work, highly motivated, and still love what I do with all my heart. In general, I plan to compete in Formula 1 for some time and I advise everyone to get used to it."
Of course, Lewis was asked what to expect from Ferrari at the Canadian stage of the championship.
"I hope our performance will be better this weekend," he replied. "I believe the first races of the season have taught us a lot, especially the Miami Grand Prix. I am very grateful to the team for the incredibly hard work being done at the base. We are trying to analyze what we are doing well, what we are not, and adjusting our approaches and workflows.
I hope we can extract a bit more from our car, as I think we still haven't fully unlocked its potential. At the same time, we need to be realistic and acknowledge where we stand compared to, for example, Mercedes. A lot can happen this weekend, so the goal is to try to get everything we can out of the SF-26.
We'll see, although I don't know if it will work out. It's clear that everyone is aware that Mercedes will present a large package of technical updates this weekend, although they were already very fast without that. But we just need to focus on our work and strive for the best possible result."
