Pierre Gasly: We have a good car to fight for points.
On Thursday in Montreal, Pierre Gasly participated in the official FIA press conference. The Alpine driver did not make a prediction for this weekend but suggested that the car's speed would be enough to earn points.
Pierre Gasly: "After the Miami race, we understood a lot and arrived at this stage with many answers, although in the first practice we still need to check a couple of things to fully understand the new components we put on the car at the last stage. But I am confident that we made the necessary step forward.
Overall, the pace in Miami was good. Both cars made it to the final qualifying, I finished eighth in the sprint, and Franco finished seventh in the race. I feel that the team has gained good momentum, and we need to keep working and try to push even more.
I don’t know how well Montreal will suit our car, but I am confident that we already have a good foundation to fight for points. In Miami, we were a bit surprised by the gaps – it seemed that the leaders pulled away a bit, but we looked quite confident at the front of the midfield."
The driver Pierre also commented on Max Verstappen's performance at the "24 Hours of Nürburgring": "To be honest, it was impossible to pass by this. And I really enjoyed it. Huge respect for both the result and the dedication with which Max approached this project.
I would have loved to race in such conditions myself. Of course, he was a bit unlucky, but at the same time, he once again showed what level he is currently at.
Honestly, I am not surprised at all that he was so fast in this category and against such competitors. Later, many bright shots from that race spread on social media, which looked really cool."
