Canadian Grand Prix: Power Unit Components

Canadian Grand Prix: Power Unit Components

This year, throughout the season, teams can use four internal combustion engines (ICE), four turbochargers (TC), four MGU-Ks, three energy storage units (ES), three control electronics units (CE), and six ancillary component units (ANC) without penalty. The installation of the first element of the power unit that exceeds these limits results in a loss of 10 grid positions. The installation of the second and subsequent elements results in a loss of five positions. If the penalty exceeds 15 positions, the driver starts from the last row. If multiple drivers receive such penalties, the starting position depends on the qualifying results. The replacement of exhaust systems (EXN) is also limited – only four can be used per season, with subsequent replacements penalized similarly. The FIA has published a list of power unit elements installed on cars before the start of the weekend in Canada, but replacements are already possible today.
