Komatsu: Esteban and I had no disagreements.
Haas F1 team principal Ayo Komatsu categorically denied all rumors of a rift that allegedly occurred between him and Esteban Ocon. The French driver himself also called it "complete nonsense," and we quoted his words yesterday.
"To be honest, I don't know where such stories come from, I have no idea," Komatsu stated. "There is absolutely no basis for this, so it's absolute nonsense. If someone wants to write such rubbish – let them write, but can this be called journalism? I don't think so. It's all terrible. What do these people want to achieve? It's madness..."
When Komatsu was asked if he had a conversation with Esteban when these rumors surfaced, he replied: "I spoke with him this morning, but from my point of view, we have nothing to justify. It was also rumored that I had some disagreements with Esteban in Miami – it's astonishing where all this comes from? Esteban and I didn't argue about anything in Miami at all.
And now Esteban is worried, his manager is also concerned. Esteban knows that we had no disagreements in Miami, at least on any specific issues.
This morning we just laughed when discussing what all this nonsense could mean. In general, I promised to bring full clarity because this is complete rubbish. And we absolutely do not need such rumors."
Komatsu said a few words about the expectations related to the Canadian weekend, confirming that Haas will present a number of technical innovations at the fifth round of the season: "We need to check whether we can achieve a significant increase in speed or not. Before Miami, we weren't sure that the package of updates we prepared was good enough, but then we had extra time to continue refining it. We'll see everything on Friday."
