The Thai police are investigating the cause of Miki Salo's injury.
According to Finnish Ilta-Sanomat, the leg injury sustained by former Formula 1 driver Mika Salo in Bangkok has become the subject of a police investigation. The events occurred on Friday evening when Salo was standing at a traffic light near a hotel, preparing to cross the street. Mika Salo: "There are an incredible number of mopeds here. One came quite close, and I felt a slight impact. But it didn't even hurt. I continued walking as usual, and then some man said, 'Hey, you're bleeding heavily from your leg.' I looked down and saw that my shoe was completely covered in blood." Doctors suggested that the wound could have been inflicted by a knife or another sharp object, but authorities have not yet confirmed the cause. The police are reviewing footage from cameras to determine whether the injury was the result of a deliberate knife attack or an accidental incident. Preliminary reports indicate that the injury was actually caused not by a knife, but by a vehicle's license plate.
