Oje suggested Verstappen try his hand at rallying.
Nine-time world rally champion Sébastien Ogier suggested Max Verstappen try his hand at driving a rally car. Ogier met with the Red Bull Racing driver during the "24 Hours of Nürburgring" marathon, and later on social media, he encouraged Max to take a cue from his father Jos, who competes in the Belgian rally championship. In response, Verstappen asked if Sébastien would be his teacher, and today, on the eve of the World Rally Championship stage in Japan, Ogier expanded on this topic. "Initially, it was kind of a joke on social media, but it's clear that Max enjoys gaining new experiences and things like that," says Sébastien Ogier. "Last year, he once drove my old Fiesta, but the choice of location wasn't the best – at the racetrack. I told Max that if he really wants to experience a rally car, he needs to do it in the right conditions, as a stationary racetrack isn't particularly suitable for rallying. I'm sure that a driver like Max will be interested in rallying sooner or later, so why not? I answered him honestly – if he wants to participate in tests, I would only welcome it."
