Daniel Hunkadella is mocking Gunther Steiner.
Daniel Hunkadella, Max Verstappen's teammate, with whom he competed in the "24 Hours of Nürburgring," can be said to have come to his defense, ironically commenting on Günther Steiner's words directed at the four-time world champion.
Max Verstappen openly criticizes the F1 of 2026, comparing it to Formula E and the popular video game Mario Kart, hinting that he might leave the championship if amendments to the technical regulations are not made, which should be implemented by the next season.
His attitude did not change even after the Canadian Grand Prix, although in Montreal he finished in the top three for the first time this year.
"Max Verstappen looked a bit more satisfied because he got on the podium," Steiner said while participating in the Red Flags podcast. "But I'm sure if he had won, he would have been just very happy, and then these rules would have seemed to him the best in the world.
After the race, he should have said: 'I still don't like the rules. Although I almost like them now, I still want them to be changed.' That's how he plays the political card, trying to influence amendments to the engine regulations."
Such comments from the former head of Haas F1, now co-owner of the Tech3 team competing in MotoGP, seemed inappropriate to Hunkadella, and he left a rather scathing comment on his social media pages.
"This person has been warning everyone about the new rules since 2023, but now, having become the head of the consortium that acquired the MotoGP team, he is certainly much better informed about everything," wrote the Spanish driver, who combines performances for Verstappen Racing in the European GT World Challenge series and work with the factory team Genesis Magma Racing in WEC.
