      Carlos Sainz: “I understand that this year I obviously have to make a decision about my future, but I have clearly communicated to Williams and my managers that my priority is the success of this project.

      When I agreed to join Williams a couple of years ago, I committed to achieving success, and I really hope that we can make it happen.

      Obviously, this year we faced a serious problem that we did not expect, and right now all my attention and efforts are focused on getting the team out of this crisis as soon as possible.

      I was glad to hear from James that the team lineup will remain the same. I think we mutually agreed that this is the ideal scenario; for me, it’s the perfect way to race for Williams, to watch this team progress, and to continue helping it become stronger. That’s what I would like the most, and I’m very happy that my boss still wants me to stay.”
