Piastri: I hope to win many more races with McLaren.

      McLaren is getting closer to the landmark milestone of 1000 Grands Prix, and although this event has not yet occurred, the British team has already begun to celebrate it.       Oscar Piastri: “Of course, it’s an impressive milestone, and driving for McLaren is really, really great! I have special memories associated with the victories I’ve achieved for our team – I hope I can win many more races.

      There are quite a few interesting events happening this weekend, but when it comes to the upcoming Grand Prix, Monaco always presents complex challenges, as if something goes wrong on this track, the consequences can be very serious.

      Overall, we can say that we are curious to see how everything will unfold. In terms of the power unit, the situation should be more normal, and our MCL40 is likely better suited for this track than the previous generation car. I think we have a fun weekend ahead!

      Of course, at the previous round in Montreal, we didn’t perform our best, so after the race, we analyzed the entire decision-making process with the team (there was a mistake in tire choice before the race start in Canada – the team opted for intermediates when slicks should have been used), but at that time we had good reasons for it.

      At that moment, the situation was 50/50, and after that race, I said that if the rain had lasted a couple more minutes, events could have unfolded quite differently. For example, I know for sure that there were other teams that would have liked to start on intermediates but simply didn’t manage to fit them in on time.

      Of course, we were guided by a certain logic at that time, but the calculations didn’t pay off, and that was one of those episodes that needs to be analyzed and conclusions drawn, to understand if we could have acted more correctly. However, I believe that this story shouldn’t be dramatized.”
