2027 Ford Bronco Filson: A Raptor-Powered Off-Road Vehicle for Stylish Outdoor Enthusiasts

      Those who purchase stylish new off-road vehicles also tend to spend generously on outdoor equipment. Therefore, it makes perfect sense for two entities in these areas to collaborate. This isn’t about Toyotas and Yetis; it’s about Ford teaming up with Filson, a high-end apparel brand whose long-sleeve button-down shirts start at $199 each. And if you think the new Bronco Filson will be priced any less extravagantly, just wait until you hear about the Raptor engine and the leather saddlebags attached to the seatbacks.

      Before you inquire, I don’t know the price just yet, as Ford hasn’t released that information. However, this vehicle comes standard with the Sasquatch package, featuring enhanced HOSS 3.0 suspension and 35-inch Goodyear tires, along with quilted leather and a textured, wrapped dashboard. It takes the concept of the old Eddie Bauer Bronco and elevates the luxury factor significantly.

      Ford teased this Bronco a couple of weeks ago, vowing to deliver a premium off-roader that surpasses anything it has previously produced. The powertrain is impressive, as this model is now only the second Bronco, following the Raptor, to be equipped with the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6. The automaker from the Blue Oval claims that this engine is specifically tuned for this model, producing 418 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. However, don’t expect a manual transmission; a 10-speed automatic will likely be the only available option.

      Additional features include ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, marking a first for the Bronco. It also features acoustic glass and enhanced door and roof seals, which Ford states help reduce perceived wind noise by 20% compared to the 2021 Bronco. Having experienced several early sixth-generation Broncos, any improvement in this area would have been welcome, though I won't delve into that discussion. Regardless of how much external noise seeps into the Bronco Filson, it can easily be masked by the upgraded Bang & Olufsen sound system.

      The true advantage of the Filson partnership shines through the intricately stitched saddlebags, some of which attach to the door panels, while others are located on the front seats or in the rear cargo zone. Additionally, leather-wrapped grab handles facilitate entry and exit from the truck, but such sophisticated storage solutions aren’t found in other factory 4x4s. Ford’s press release mentions these bags are crafted from “water and dirt resistant materials,” with some being detachable for convenience, allowing users to carry their already-prepared fishing flies or even a first aid kit for outdoor activities.

      The Bronco Filson will be available in Field Green Metallic—an exclusive color—along with Marsh Gray, Avalanche Gray, Desert Sand, Shadow Black, and Oxford White. Buyers who invest in the Filson First Edition will receive the even more exclusive Iron Sands Copper Metallic paint, a distinctive fender badge, a serialized plaque, and Filson-branded storage bags. Quite appealing.

      We’ll have to wait to find out the pricing for these vehicles, but don’t be shocked if it approaches the six-figure range. Also, don’t be surprised if Ford sells them all. Perhaps Toyotas and Yetis will gain traction after this...
