Audi drivers took part in the presentation of the supercar.
After the cessation of the R8 supercar production in 2024, there was no car in Audi's lineup with such impressive characteristics, but now it seems to have appeared.
Last night in Monaco, a bright presentation of the Audi Nuvolari concept car took place, logically featuring Formula 1 factory team drivers Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto.
It is said that the new model promises to become the fastest production car in the history of the German company – its speed will exceed 350 km/h thanks to a hybrid powertrain developing over 1000 hp.
For now, we have to speak about the car in the future tense, as the first Audi Nuvolari supercars will not be delivered to customers until 2027, with a total of 499 units of this model to be produced.
It is claimed that the car accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and to 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds – such dynamics have been made possible by the all-wheel-drive transmission and a powerful 800-hp 4-liter V8 engine with two turbochargers, borrowed from Lamborghini, which works in conjunction with three electric motors. Therefore, the total power of the powertrain is 1001 hp.
As the creators of the car emphasize, the Nuvolari embodies the latest engineering solutions tested in Formula 1 – this applies to both the hybrid system and active aerodynamics, as well as the suspension design.
According to Ruven Mora, the chief technical officer of Audi, who recently led Lamborghini, "Formula 1 provides a decisive impetus for the rapid and thoughtful implementation of innovations in the mass production of cars."
The silver color of the supercar is a nod to the company's history, to the racing cars of Auto Union from the 1930s. Notably, during that time, the legendary Italian Tazio Nuvolari secured victories for the German brand. Therefore, the new car has been named after him – by the way, Enzo Ferrari called him his favorite driver, as before joining Auto Union, the "Flying Mantuan" (il Mantovano Volante), as Nuvolari was nicknamed, won races driving for Alfa Romeo under the Scuderia Ferrari team.
To what extent the drivers representing the Audi F1 factory team will continue Nuvolari's legacy remains to be seen, but the German company dreams of victories, although they do not promise to contend for the title before 2030.
It remains to be added that the price of the new Audi model has not yet been announced, but experts predict it will cost no less than $500,000.
