Alex Albon will break Mansell's record in Barcelona.
At the Barcelona-Catalonia Grand Prix, Alex Albon will break the record of world champion Nigel Mansell and move into first place for the most starts for Williams. This weekend, Alex Albon will make his 96th start for the Grove team, and in honor of this event, he will wear a specially designed helmet that pays tribute to the classic design of Nigel Mansell's helmet, with which he won the title in 1992 driving for Williams. Alex Albon: "It's amazing to realize that I will have raced for this legendary team more times than one of the greatest drivers in the history of the sport. Growing up, Nigel Mansell was a role model for me, a true fighter and a legend of both Williams and Formula 1. This achievement means much more than just a number. Every start over the past five seasons has been the result of the hard work of the entire team in Grove. In moments of success and in moments of difficulty, each race has been part of the journey that Williams is on. It is a great honor and immense pride for me to be alongside such legendary Williams drivers as Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, and Ralf Schumacher." James Vowles, team principal: "Such records do not happen by themselves. They are the result of years of hard work, trust, and belief in each other. I am very proud of Alex and everything he has achieved with our team. He has earned his place in Williams history, and we are happy to celebrate these achievements with him." Nigel Mansell: "I am very pleased that Alex has reached this milestone. It is truly a special achievement, and he fully deserves it. The dedication he has shown to Williams over the past five seasons speaks volumes about him not only as a driver but also as a person. It's not just about Alex. The whole team is moving in the right direction, and it's nice to see this progress. I have no doubt that he has many more races ahead of him with Williams. As for my record for the most wins, I wouldn't rule anything out either."
