McLaren has appealed the results of the Monaco Grand Prix.

The McLaren team has officially confirmed the submission of an appeal to the stewards' decision to review the results of the Monaco Grand Prix and restore third place to Pierre Gasly.

At the recent event in Barcelona, the stewards granted Alpine's request to review two penalties that Pierre Gasly received during the Monaco race. As a result, the French driver returned to third place in the Monaco Grand Prix standings. Other teams had 96 hours to contest this decision, and McLaren exercised that right.

“McLaren Racing confirms that it has submitted an official notice of appeal to the FIA International Court of Appeal regarding the following decisions related to the Monaco Grand Prix 2026: Document No. 99 ‘Stewards' Decision,’ Document No. 100 ‘Revised Final Race Classification,’ and Document No. 101 ‘Revised Championship Points,’” the McLaren team stated. “We fully respect the FIA's judicial procedures and the role of the stewards; however, we believe that this case raises important questions regarding sporting fairness, consistency in the application of regulations, and sporting integrity.

Throughout the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, as at every other event, all teams acted in accordance with the regulations and established standard procedures regarding speed limits in the pit lane that were in effect at the time. Competitors adjusted their procedures accordingly and accepted and served penalties imposed in accordance with these rules when necessary.

In our view, the subsequent cancellation of penalties creates a situation where some participants are at a disadvantage because they acted in accordance with the rules and the stewards' decisions. Such an outcome can lead to sporting inequality and undermine confidence in the consistency of the application of the FIA Sporting Regulations.

Our decision to appeal is not directed against any competitor. Rather, it reflects our belief that the championship benefits from regulations that are applied consistently, transparently, and fairly to all participants.

McLaren remains committed to constructive engagement with the FIA, Formula 1, and other teams to protect the integrity of the sport and maintain trust in the regulatory system.”
