Jack Crawford will replace Stroll in training in Austria.
The Aston Martin team has confirmed that reserve driver Jack Crawford will take part in the first Friday practice in Austria and will drive Lance Stroll's car at the Red Bull Ring circuit. This will be Jack's fourth practice session in Formula 1 and his second in 2026. The 21-year-old American driver has been behind the wheel of the AMR26 during Pirelli tests this week, he is in good shape and will now return to the track in Spielberg, which he became quite familiar with during his years in junior formulas. He has won there in both F3 and F2, and it was also there in June 2024 that he first drove an Aston Martin car. After that, he joined the Silverstone team's youth program and has already driven more than 3,800 km in their cars, making him one of the most prepared young professionals not participating in the World Championship. Jack Crawford: "It's great to get another opportunity to drive the AMR26 during a race weekend. I know the Austrian track well, and I have quite an interesting experience ahead of me, as I am returning to the Red Bull Ring almost two years after my very first tests behind the wheel of an Aston Martin car. This season, I have spent a lot of time working on the simulator, supporting the team, and recently worked productively on tire tests in Barcelona, and I am ready to apply that experience on the track. I appreciate any opportunity to drive a Formula 1 car and will do my best to provide the team with useful information and work as effectively as possible during the practice." Mike Krack, Racing Director of Aston Martin F1 Team: "Jack continues to play an important role as the third driver, and the upcoming practice in Austria will be another significant step in this process. Throughout the season, he has been very actively involved in our simulator program, and recently worked productively on Pirelli tire tests in Barcelona. In Austria, we will have another opportunity to assess Jack's progress in a race weekend environment, and the team will gain important information."
