Horner associated with Aston Martin as comeback rumors resurface.
"Christian finds himself in a challenging position."
Christian Horner is once again being associated with Aston Martin as speculation lingers regarding where the former Red Bull team principal might return to Formula 1. Horner was initially linked to Aston Martin right after leaving Red Bull, although no developments came of it. Recent reports have also mentioned Alpine, Chinese company BYD, and even a possible twelfth Formula 1 team as potential options for him. The most recent rumors regarding Aston Martin surfaced in the British media, but the Silverstone-based team opted not to comment. "In line with our policy, we do not address rumors and speculation," stated an Aston Martin representative. Meanwhile, Horner's longtime associate Bernie Ecclestone shared that he has another option in mind. "I speak to him quite often," the former Formula 1 chief mentioned in Austria last weekend. "Right after he left, I tried to persuade him to join Ferrari." The 95-year-old Ecclestone thinks that Horner's next move will come with considerable expectations. "Christian is in a difficult situation," he remarked. "Regardless of where he goes, if he fails to achieve success, many will claim he only won at Red Bull due to their substantial budget." At present, Horner is serving as a consultant for the London-based investment firm Oakley Capital while awaiting the right chance to re-enter Formula 1. "I look forward to collaborating in the future (with Oakley) and sharing my insights to support the next wave of exceptional sports enterprises," Horner stated.
