Antonelli: I am not trying to overtake George at any cost.

On Thursday in Silverstone, Kimi Antonelli stated that he does not have the task of necessarily overtaking George Russell this weekend...

Kimi Antonelli: "In Austria, I was unhappy that the race ended so early. I needed a few more laps to fight with the leaders. I would have liked to try to overtake them. On the other hand, we completed 71 laps – there’s hardly anything to complain about.

The last two races have not gone well. In Barcelona, everything was going well, but the car broke down. In Austria, the car was fine, but I pushed a bit too hard in qualifying and couldn’t get the most out of it. But I maintained my lead in the championship and I’m looking forward to this weekend to achieve the best possible result.

One of the main lessons is to be ready for anything, to take every opportunity, and to always get the most out of every practice session because you never know what might happen. There are weekends when you don’t feel comfortable in the car, but it’s important not to lose focus, to stay concentrated, and to strive for the goal.

I won’t try to overtake George at all costs. With that approach, I would focus only on one goal, losing sight of everything else. Of course, finishing ahead of George on his home track would be a strong move on my part, but it’s not just about him being British. Theoretically, this track suits his driving style very well. Although recently, the same was said about Barcelona."
