Leclerc: Lewis is more often able to unlock the potential of the SF-26.

Lewis Hamilton secured pole position in yesterday's sprint qualifying at Silverstone and acknowledged that it was a "magnificent surprise." It seems that Charles Leclerc was just as surprised as the seven-time world champion by his teammate's speed in the Ferrari SF-26, as he finished more than three-tenths behind him – to be precise, 0.327 seconds. However, the Monegasque will start the short Saturday race from 4th position, which is also not bad.

Charles Leclerc: "We were very surprised that Lewis secured pole, but overall we expected the gap to the cars that outpaced us to be much larger. So we made a decent step forward, although the speeds we found ourselves capable of on this track were a real surprise for the team.

Some time ago, I realized that I couldn't drive with the same ease that I had last year, and even when I push to the limit and everything goes well, Lewis often manages to fully unlock the car's potential – unlike me.

Right now, I am analyzing everything in detail, trying to understand the reasons for this. It means I need to strive to improve in every aspect, but even more importantly, I need to achieve the right feelings behind the wheel of this car. When you're uncomfortable, it's hard to set a good lap time, as you don't feel confident before qualifying and can't drive at the car's limits – I'm struggling with all of this right now. I can't consistently give 100% on the track.

In the first two parts of qualifying, I was close to that, and before the final, I had a pretty confident mindset, but I made a mistake in the final session, and the necessary feelings behind the wheel were already gone."
