Andrea Stella: We have no illusions.

Andrea Stella, team principal of McLaren, commented on the results of the British Grand Prix, which were not entirely clear-cut for the British team.

Andrea Stella: "Behind us is our home Grand Prix in Silverstone. In the Saturday sprint, we managed to secure 3rd and 7th places, while in the main race of the weekend, Lando Norris finished 4th, whereas Oscar Piastri had bad luck. His car was damaged in an incident that occurred at the start. Because of this, he lost a lot of time as he had to return to the pits for a new front wing, and it quickly became clear that his Sunday would be challenging.

Although the team earned quite a few points, we have no illusions: the MCL40 was only the fourth fastest car, but we were able to take advantage of the misfortunes that befell others. Thus, we consider the weekend's results to be ambiguous, and while Lando's 4th place is not bad, it exceeds what we deserve in terms of pure speed.

At the same time, the team employed excellent tactics when they called Lando in for the final pit stop, and he acted correctly to fully capitalize on all the opportunities that arose during the Grand Prix.

Of course, we race for wins, but to reach that level, we must continue to work, strive to improve the car's efficiency, and currently, that significant work is underway. We are preparing a number of substantial technical updates for the Hungarian Grand Prix, so I urge everyone to be patient a little longer. But undoubtedly, we want to accelerate the pace of progress to return to the front rows as quickly as possible.

It was encouraging that there was an incredible amount of public in Silverstone, as over half a million people visited the circuit over the three days of the weekend. Some of our fans were in the stands, while others supported us from home, but in any case, a huge thank you to everyone for accompanying us on this journey."
