Montoya calls for a review of the rules.

During the race in Silverstone, Kimi Antonelli received a penalty for repeatedly going off the track – his car was damaged, but he did everything to earn at least some points. Former Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya called on the FIA to change the rules – he believes that penalties should only be given if a driver gains an advantage by going off the track…

Juan Pablo Montoya: “A very important point that was noted at Mercedes – the need to consider the conditions of the boundary violation. If you go off the track and lose time because of it, that should not be considered a violation. The regulations need to be formulated so that if you go off the track and gain an advantage, that should be counted as a violation. But if your car breaks down, and you receive penalties because of that, you should not be penalized further.”
