Russell and Sainz worked on the first day of the Pirelli tests.
The Pirelli company began two-day tests of prototypes for new tires for 2027 today in Silverstone. The cars and drivers were provided this time by Mercedes and Williams. The work focused on the slick tire design ahead of the homologation scheduled for September 1. In the morning, George Russell and Carlos Sainz tested different slick tire options, while in the afternoon, they checked several promising solutions over long distances. Russell completed 113 laps (665 km) with a best time of 1:30.695. Sainz completed 61 laps (359 km) with a best time of 1:33.576. Due to issues with his car, Sainz was unable to continue in the afternoon. The tests will continue tomorrow – Kimi Antonelli will take the wheel of the Mercedes, while Alex Albon will continue testing for Williams.
