Alex Albon: "What are tire tests? They take place after the end of a race weekend, on the same track, on Tuesday and Wednesday. We just don’t leave with everyone else; we stay to test the tires that are in development as part of the Pirelli program.
We conduct comparative tests, comparing the tires we are using this year with the tires that Pirelli plans to introduce later – during the season or next year.
We provide feedback, saying whether they are better or worse, and what the differences are. Pirelli engineers gather comments from drivers and telemetry data from all teams, and then make decisions on which tires to use in the future. That’s pretty much it. For drivers, it means more laps on the track, more experience – which is always great."
