Red Bull is keeping an eye on Oliver Berman.
As long as Max Verstappen has not decided on his future plans, he will remain the center of attention and a sort of "generator" of news about potential personnel changes within the teams. In particular, Sky Sports commentator David Croft assures that Red Bull Racing is closely monitoring Oliver Berman, who could become the driver to take Verstappen's place if the four-time world champion decides to change jobs or even retire from Formula 1 altogether. Berman is a graduate of the Ferrari Racing Academy; however, Martin Brundle, Croft's colleague in the British channel's commentary team, rightly believes that he has no chance of moving to the Italian team: "Oliver sees that Charles Leclerc has extended his contract with Ferrari, and it also seems that Lewis Hamilton will stay there for a few more years. The path to the Ferrari factory team is closed for him. Meanwhile, Haas remains the smallest team in the championship, and it struggles to keep up with the high pace of car modernization. Oliver drives excellently and just needs to keep doing that. We'll see how things go for the American team, but Esteban Ocon is already feeling increasing pressure, and his future is in question. In this situation, Berman is tied to Haas, but it’s probably time for him to think about a plan B." According to Croft, since there is a possibility that Verstappen will decide to part ways with Red Bull, the Milton Keynes team is already considering candidates who could take his place: "It was Laurent Mekies who invited Oliver Berman to the Ferrari Academy in the first place. I know that Red Bull is watching him very closely. If he cannot get into Scuderia, then moving to this team would be a great option for both him and Red Bull."
