Aston Martin mechanic Mick Fern has passed away.
Before the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix, the Aston Martin team displayed a board in front of Fernando Alonso's car dedicated to mechanic Mika Fern, known by the nickname Biscuit, who missed the race due to illness. No other details were known, and today Aston Martin's press service announced that Fern has passed away.
"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of our colleague Mika Fern, whom many of us affectionately called Biscuit, and who peacefully passed away today," said the Aston Martin statement. "Biscuit was a true team player, always dedicated and ready to support everyone around him. He welcomed everyone with open arms and made our nomadic motorsport world feel more like home. Biscuit spent 35 years in the paddock and was respected by all with whom he worked. We are all endlessly grateful for the time spent together and will greatly miss his warmth and sense of humor."
