Chevy Claims That the ‘Officially Licensed’ AI Slop Shirt at TJ Maxx is Not Genuine

      Earlier this week, I wrote a lighthearted blog post about a “licensed” Chevrolet shirt that was clearly created by AI. This tee is currently available at TJ Maxx and Marshall's, and many shoppers have stumbled upon it. To find out if it was genuine Chevy merchandise, I contacted the automaker’s PR team. They recently responded, confirming that it's not official, and they will initiate legal action to remove the shirt from stores.

      In summary, the shirt fails to accurately represent the GMT800-generation Silverado by depicting “regular cab,” “extended cab,” and “crew cab” versions of the truck. The issue is that all illustrations show only two doors, with each variation featuring progressively longer beds. Feel free to make fun of Chevrolet, but they certainly understand their pickup truck terminology.

      “A Chevrolet spokesperson informed me, ‘We can confirm that this product did not go through GM’s official licensing approval process and does not meet GM’s licensing standards. We are collaborating with our partners to investigate how this product ended up in retail. We take the correct use of our trademarks seriously and will act as necessary.’”

      Wow! I had no idea my Monday afternoon activity would turn into a noteworthy piece of journalism. (Alright, that might be a bit of an exaggeration.)

      In any case, this isn’t nearly as embarrassing for Chevrolet as some of their past blunders. Remember when Ram sold a patriotic t-shirt featuring an AI-generated Toyota Tacoma? That was definitely worse.
