During its earnings call on Thursday morning, Ferrari outlined an optimistic outlook, prompting an increase in its full-year 2026 revenue forecast from $8.7 billion to $8.8 billion. The renowned automaker pointed to consistent demand for its key supercar models, with CEO Benedetto Vigna noting that a “sustained trend in personalizations” has been a significant factor. And, of course, there’s the prominent topic: the Luce EV.
Ferrari asserts it has met its 2026 sales target for the new electric vehicle, although specific details about orders, deposits, or sales volumes were not disclosed. Moreover, it was mentioned that this milestone was reached in only two months, with Reuters reporting it was fueled by high demand from China.
The Luce, priced over $600,000, initially faced a largely negative reception from a wide audience, including casual fans and dedicated enthusiasts—even former Ferrari executive Luca di Montezemolo criticized the EV. Some initial opinions have softened as the car has been showcased in various colors and wheel options, but it remains a frequent subject of memes.
For what it's worth, I held off on forming an opinion about the Luce until I could see it in person, and after getting a close look at a grey model with five-spoke wheels, I found it to be quite stylish and very futuristic from the outside. However, once inside the cabin, it became more challenging to reconcile the idea of it being a Ferrari. Additionally, there’s a smiley face on its dashboard.
Thus, the initial production run of the Luce is sold out, specifically targeting the market demographic it primarily aimed to attract. Is this surprising? Not at all. Does this indicate the Luce has fulfilled its purpose? Absolutely. Regardless of personal opinions, the Luce was intended to broaden Ferrari’s lineup and generate revenue. So far, it’s a mission accomplished.
