Audi reserves significant ADUO enhancements for 2027.

      Audi will not take advantage of every available ADUO development opportunity this season, following a better-than-anticipated start to its Formula 1 project. Race director Allan McNish has stated that the next significant power unit upgrade will be postponed until 2027, with Audi instead conserving resources in accordance with budget regulations. "We utilized ADUO to make minor enhancements in Barcelona immediately," the former Toyota driver remarked. "It was effective and aided our progress. A more substantial update is probably slated for 2027." "Thus, we won’t see any significant changes to the power unit until then." McNish noted that Audi needs to strike a balance between short-term gains and its long-term strategy. "We can’t exhaust all our funds at once. If we did, we wouldn’t have any reserves remaining for future competitions," he explained. "That’s why we need to manage our expectations." McNish, who is also a former Audi endurance driver, expressed satisfaction with the team's performance over the first 11 races. "We are still in the midfield and the gap to the top teams is considerable, but given that we have only completed eleven Grands Prix, I believe the midfield is a good starting point." Former Haas team principal Gunther Steiner believes that Audi's advancement will eventually make its seats very appealing. "Audi is quite an attractive option, as they are progressing well," he mentioned on the Red Flags podcast. "I think there would be numerous candidates if a seat opens up. You can be sure Carlos Sainz will express interest." Steiner also speculated that George Russell may eventually consider opportunities outside of Mercedes. "He doesn’t want to be tied to Kimi (Antonelli) for his entire career, as he knows he would only be in a subordinate role," he stated. "So he is seeking new prospects."
