Formula E: Theo Pourchaire signed a contract with the Opel team

      Theo Pourchaire, a 22-year-old French driver who won the F2 title in 2023, has signed a contract with the factory team Opel, which is preparing for its debut in Formula E.

      After completing a career period related to youth series, Pourchaire managed to try his hand in IndyCar, endurance racing, collaborated with Alfa Romeo Sauber in Formula 1 as a reserve driver, and in February of this year joined the Mercedes AMG F1 Team, serving as a development driver, meaning he helps the team refine the car throughout the season.

      At the same time, Pourchaire has participated in Formula E tests multiple times, particularly this year driving racing electric cars during practice in Miami and working at the rookie tests in Madrid. It is worth noting that Theo showed quite respectable speed, finishing the practice in Miami in second place, just 0.093 seconds behind the leader.

      The Opel GSE Formula E Team is a new team in the electric series, and the well-known German brand (now part of the Stellantis group) is associated with past successes in both rally and touring, including in DTM.

      Now, as Formula E transitions to fourth-generation technology (GEN4), Opel's management is setting its sights on the World Championship for electric vehicle racing, which was announced last March. Pourchaire became the first driver whose contract with the factory team from Rüsselsheim was officially confirmed.
