Verstappen: I've always been supported at Red Bull.

Verstappen: I've always been supported at Red Bull.

This year, Max Verstappen remains in the spotlight, but not because of his successes on the racetracks, especially since Red Bull Racing has little to boast about so far. The team from Milton Keynes has yet to secure a victory, although the four-time world champion has already stepped onto the podium four times, including finishing second at the recent Hungarian Grand Prix.

Everyone is curious whether Max will continue to race for Red Bull in 2027 or exercise his right to terminate his contract early, which is directly related to results. According to unofficial information we have referenced, there is a clause in his agreements with the team and its owners that allows the driver to end the collaboration if he is not in the top two of the personal standings by the summer break.

Currently, after 11 races of the season, Verstappen is only in 6th place, having scored more than twice as few points as the championship leader Kimi Antonelli, and 60 points fewer than Lewis Hamilton, who is in second place.

However, this does not prevent Max from speaking highly of his team, which supports him in every way, including allowing him to engage in other projects unrelated to Formula 1. Primarily, this refers to participation in NLS, the German endurance racing series: in May, the Verstappen Racing team was on the path to certain victory in the "24 Hours of Nürburgring," but technical problems arose in the final stages of the marathon.

When asked in an interview with RacingNews365 how he manages to maintain the concentration necessary for successful performances in Formula 1, Verstappen replied: "Actually, I just try to avoid excessive stress. I work with many good people in the team. At home, everything is stable. It's also important that I can disconnect from Formula 1 to spend time with family and engage in other projects that are not related to F1 but bring me joy.

Of course, Red Bull has always supported me in this regard. I have had an excellent relationship with Laurent Mekies (the team principal) from the very beginning, as I have known him for a long time. We have had no problems or disagreements. We get along well, often communicate, including in work meetings, so everything is good.

I like everything, and I appreciate that he fights, pushes the team, and tries to improve its overall structure, and it's pleasant to deal with him."

In the near future, it will become clear what decision Max will make, whether he will agree to continue his collaboration with Red Bull in the coming years, or – despite all the praise for this team – he could be lured away, for example, by McLaren, where his race engineer Gianpiero Lambiasi will move in 2028.
