Camara downplays the increasing speculation surrounding Haas.
"You don’t really know at the moment"
Rafael Camara has downplayed the increasing speculation that Ferrari might position him at Haas in 2027 as a potential replacement for Esteban Ocon. Given Ferrari’s strong influence over the American team, the 21-year-old Brazilian is seen as a top contender, although other drivers are also being considered for Ocon’s precarious spot. Camara, who has been part of the Ferrari academy since 2022, has secured four pole positions and two feature-race wins during his debut season in Formula 2.
When asked about the Formula 1 rumors, he commented, "It’s good to see." He added, "You don’t really know at the moment, but it’s nice to have this, and to see that the dream is close." However, he emphasized, "But at the same time, you don’t want to get too caught up in that because I’m still focused on an important championship, and if you perform well, chances are you’ll get an opportunity." He concluded, "So, I’m just really concentrating on this year."
Camara has already had multiple opportunities to test Formula 1 cars for Ferrari. "Obviously, the dream is to be in Formula 1 full time," he stated. "But it was also a very emotional experience at the time." He acknowledged, "At the same time, it’s your job. You try to enjoy it as much as you can, but you still need to do a good job."
