McLaren may continue to refine the chassis after Baku.

      According to Neil Holdie, Technical Director of McLaren Applied Engineering, the team has not yet decided when it would be most appropriate to switch from upgrading the MCL40, the 2026 car, to preparing for the next season.

      In any case, the process of refining the chassis is ongoing, and the next major set of technical innovations will be presented at the stage in Baku, but it is also possible that the modernization process will continue after that.

      "Everything will depend on whether we find some aerodynamic solution after the summer break that allows us to achieve a significant increase in efficiency," Holdie stated in an interview with the McLaren press service. "It will also depend on whether we consider it reasonable to continue refining the car at the end of the season or if we will completely shift our focus to creating next year's chassis.

      For now, the question remains open. We will assess the level of our results, the level of our competitors' results, and determine what opportunities exist for further progress. I think the chances that we will continue to implement innovations even after the stage in Baku remain quite high. It is likely that we will be able to further increase the car's efficiency, and this will not hinder us from working on the 2027 project.

      This is not about major innovations, but rather about some components that can be easily installed on the car, and they relate to areas where there is a good opportunity for improvement."
