Hulkenberg prepared to remain with Audi for the long haul.

"As long as I'm enjoying myself, the timing is right, and the team still wants me"

Nico Hulkenberg is ready to keep racing for Audi for as long as the team desires, with previous uncertainties about his 2027 position now diminishing. The 38-year-old recently broke his points drought with a P9 finish in Hungary and asserts that his season performance is much more robust than what the standings indicate.

"There’s a significant gap between what you see there and what actually transpired on the track and where we stand as a team," Hulkenberg told Sport Bild. "If you look at the standings, you might think: What a load of nonsense. But when you review the individual races and observe the overall picture, it's quite clear."

Hulkenberg is contracted until 2027 and believes he could continue beyond that time. "Never say never, but it’s too early to think about that," the German stated. "I’m focused on the present, taking it one year at a time."

"As long as I’m having fun, the timing is right, and the team wants me, I’ll drive for Audi. I can see that lasting for quite a while."

Currently, he emphasizes that Audi's progress as a works team is more important than any future contract discussions. "The primary focus right now is that we are making the right strides with the project. That’s what we’re doing. The rest will come."
