Zac Brown stepped onto the podium in California.

      Starting from last week, the annual car festival is taking place in Monterey, California, and, as always, among its main events are the races of historic cars. We reported that Zak Brown, the CEO of McLaren Racing, won the qualifying round before the Bruce McLaren Trophy race at the wheel, symbolically, of the McLaren M8D sports prototype built more than five and a half decades ago. According to Brown, the subsequent events at the Laguna Seca track unfolded as follows: "I was enjoying every lap, leading the first race in the M8D until a brake issue that arose in Turn 1 caused everything to go up in smoke. But I finished 3rd in another race, driving the Jaguar XJR-8, and that was cool!" The XJR-8 sports prototype with a 7-liter V12 engine was created in 1987 for endurance racing in the famous Group C class, and with such cars, the factory Jaguar team won the World Sports Prototype Championship in both classifications that season. The car with the number 5, which is now in Zak Brown's collection, was notably driven by Jan Lammers and John Watson, who had already retired from Formula 1 at that time. However, the Dutch driver returned in 1992 but only participated in a couple of Grands Prix, without achieving significant results. The Group C sports car racing championship was held until 1992, but now it is the WEC.
