Ukraine contests the FIA decision regarding Russia.
The FAU deems the decision unacceptable.
Ukraine’s automobile federation has officially protested the FIA’s choice to reinstate the flags, anthems, and national symbols of Russia and Belarus in global motorsport. The FAU insists that this action is inappropriate as long as Russia's war against Ukraine persists and has requested FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem and the World Motor Sport Council to overturn the decision made on August 3.
The federation stated, "In these circumstances, the reintroduction of state symbols from aggressor nations in international sports events cannot be perceived as a neutral or purely athletic measure." The FAU contends that the reintroduction of these symbols may foster "a misleading perception of normalized relations" while the conflict is ongoing. It has also invited Ukraine’s Ministry of Youth and Sports to support their response and insists on continuing to dispute the FIA's decision.
