Jenson Button's garage has a Chrysler Viper GTS-R.
Jenson Button announced a new acquisition: another historic sports car has appeared in the garage of the 2009 world champion – the Chrysler Viper GTS-R, which was once driven by Paul Belmondo in the FIA GT championship.
The son of the famous French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo was seriously involved in motorsport, even spending one and a half seasons in Formula 1, but he raced for frankly weak teams, so he often failed to qualify. In endurance racing, he fared much better, including finishing 2nd in the FIA GT championship in 2000.
The very car on which young Belmondo achieved four victories is now fully restored by specialists from the American company GTS-R Heritage and has joined Button's collection.
Jenson has already had the chance to test it in action and shared his impressions on his social media pages: “A new beast in my stable! This is the Chrysler Viper GTS-R (chassis C25), which originally belonged to Paul Belmondo. He finished 2nd in the FIA GT championship in 2000 with this car, when I started racing in Formula 1.
Last weekend, the history of this car was further marked by a podium finish at the Laguna Seca track! And I’m already looking forward to bringing it to the Willow Springs Raceway.”
Button means that he plans to participate in the American tour of the Festival of Speed, which traditionally takes place in Goodwood, England, but will first head to California in the fall of 2028, with preparations starting in 2027.
