Перед началом Гран При Китая гонщик команды Alpine Джек Дуэн рассказал о причинах своей аварии на первом круге гонки в Мельбурне и полностью взял на себя ответственность за инцидент.
Джек Дуэн: «Честно говоря, я сам был поражён случившимся, поскольку это было не похоже на те ошибки, которые я совершал раньше. На прошедшем уикенде у меня было много позитивных моментов, и пусть результаты это не отображают, я это ощущаю. Для меня это гораздо важнее, чем совершённая ошибка.
В следующий раз на этом участке трассы я буду действовать так же, как когда выезжал из боксов на стартовую решётку: буду переключать передачи перед третьим поворотом. Я находился на третьей передаче, педаль газа была нажатой на 80%, я переключился на четвёртую, и двигатель заглох. Чтобы прояснить ситуацию: с машиной всё было в порядке, но мои действия привели к тому, что она остановилась.
Нет никаких оправданий, но в следующий раз я буду действовать более осторожно и переключаться на повышенную передачу перед поворотом».
