George Russell: My goals for this season remain the same
The teams continue to prepare for the new season. George Russell on the first day of arrival at the base of Mercedes this year answered a few questions from the press service, telling how he spent the off-season, and what tasks set for himself in 2025. George Russell: "In Formula 1 everyone needs a break, but, frankly, I could not wait to return to work. There's still time until the first race, but the first day at the base is a first step. It's good to see everyone motivated to get back in the fight and see the car. I resumed physical training on January 2 with coach Alex. We trained for a few weeks and the second one turned out to be extremely tough. We gradually built up the load as the last thing you want to do is overdo it and injure yourself. During the break, I tried to keep fit and moving so I wasn't sitting around all day doing nothing. For me, exercise is more than physical fitness. It's a great way to feel good and stay mentally healthy. So I don't want to stop. My goals for this season are the same and my approach hasn't changed. Formula 1 is so unique that it's impossible to set general goals. If I say that I want to win four races, because last year I won three, and in the end I will win five, although I could win ten, I will not consider the goal achieved. I try to specify the task. Last year, qualifying was my strong point, while the races didn't always work out. I know I have the speed on one lap and there is no reason why I can't convert it into a race result. I need to work on some more aspects and they will be one of the goals as well. The great thing about Formula 1 is that you start a new year with a new car and new limitations. Sometimes the strengths you had last year may not be there this year, and you constantly have to adapt.
