Mexico City is looking to extend the contract

Contracts with Grand Prix host circuits expire this year in Mexico City, Imola and Las Vegas. Vegas will not lose the Grand Prix. Formula 1 actually signs the contract to host that race with itself as the promoter of the stage. The Imola stage could fall into the rotation, getting a Grand Prix every few years. The least chance is in Mexico. Until recently, the stands at the Rodriguez Brothers Autodromo were filled to capacity, but after the departure of Sergio Perez and spectator interest has fallen, and funding has been significantly reduced. The promoters are trying to find a solution. Alejandro Soberon, CEO of CIE, the promoter of the Mexican stage, said: "As stage organizers we are very concerned about Sergio's absence from the starting field and we are trying to find a way to renew our contract with Formula 1. We are now able to give the spectators a much better show than five years ago, so I think the competition of the drivers and the other bright colors of our show will be enough to keep the public interested."
